Please make sure folks! Kuala Lumpur has two big airports plus one small airport. People seems to always confuse between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2). So make sure that every time you travel, you will be departing from KLIA or KLIA2. On top of that, you will also happen to be departing from Subang Airport.
If you are departing from KLIA/KLIA2, here are some options on how to get there:
By bus
If you are on a tight budget, I advise you to use this type of transportation. It’s cheap, convenient and comfortable. The bus schedule is almost every hour, so you do not need worry about that. Just make sure that sometimes when you are hop on to the bus on the peak time (usually 7am-10am & 5pm-7pm on weekday), you will be trapped in the traffic. If you are departing from KLIA/KLIA2, these busses will be a perfect choice for you: SkyBus, Star Shuttle, Aerobus, Airport Liner, Jetbus and Transnasional. The fare starting from RM10 according to where you are departing from.
By train
Fast and spacious, KLIA Ekspres t is a perfect choice for you to experience a train. You will need to pay a lot more if you choose this. RM35/adult and RM15/child for a one way trip from KL Sentral to KLIA & KLIA2. When I travel with my 6 months old baby, I prefer this type of transportation. If she is whining throughout the journey, we can take a walk around the train car. But then again if you have a lot of luggage, please be prepared!
By taxi
Simpler choice from some traveler with special needs or having an extra budget. The taxi fare will vary. The metered taxi flag-off rate is RM3 with RM0.10 charged every 115 meters. If you are stuck in the traffic jam, the fare will be RM3.00 for the first 3 minutes, and RM0.10 for every subsequent 21 seconds. Please take note that, a 50% surcharge is levied between midnight and 6am.
By car
Driving with car to KLIA/KLIA2 is also a good option. You will find easily a sign board directing you to KLIA almost everywhere. Follow the board and fill in your tank around RM40 and RM20 for toll if you are heading to KLIA/KLIA2 for a two way trip.
Choose it wisely according to your needs and budget. Happy travelling!
